Most commonly asked questions 👀

  • The app is primarily for young people who are 16+ with an interest in careers in the creative industries.

Our typical user is looking for work experiences or internships, creative competitions, careers events or workshops & other early-careers opportunities to build their skills and confidence. They are looking to get work-ready and enhance their CV or portfolio, but aren’t necessarily ready to apply for a job just yet.

The app is also used by careers teams, teachers & parents who want to find careers opportunities for their students or children.

Our users see the app as a time-saving tool that removes the burden of having to search the internet for careers opportunities themselves. The ERIC app finds all the opportunities scattered across the web and brings everything into one easy-to-access place so everyone can effortlessly and quickly access the opportunities that are right for them.

  • On average, we publish between 20-30 new opportunities on the app every day.

We have a dedicated team who scan the web every day for fresh opportunities. We also work directly with hundreds with organisations in the creative industries who have chosen ERIC as the platform they want to promote their exclusive opportunities on.

We check everything to make sure it’s relevant, appropriate and everything is approved before being shown on the ERIC app.

  • ERIC is not a recruiter and we cannot guarantee you a job. We instead aim to connect you with a variety of opportunities that will help you gain experience, skills and support that you need to feel confident enough to get a job.

We are proud to say that thousands of young people in our community have gone on and landed a career in the creative industries but our aim is to help you feel more prepared, skilled and work-ready.

  • The creative industries are for everyone and the opportunities we put on the app reflects that ethos. We publish hundreds of opportunities every month that are designed to support people of all backgrounds into a career in the creative industries.

Accessibility to creative opportunities regardless of educational qualifications is high on our agenda. Why? Because on of our Co-Founders, Sam, wasn’t very good at school and also didn't go to university. She is super passionate about supporting those who, like her, do not fit the school mould or didn’t go on to higher education.

  • Yes, the app is free for young people and always will be. You can download it on iOS or Android.

We don’t have a desktop version yet, but watch this space.

  • Lots of the opportunities we find are specifically for helping underrepresented communities get equal access to careers in the creative industries (for example, a playwriting competition that is only open to people from the LGBTQIA+ community). So if someone who is using the app tells us they are part of an underrepresented community, we can use this information to match them up with opportunities designed to support them and their specific needs/situation.

We absolutely treat the information our app users share with us incredibly sensitively (please see our privacy policy here) and we welcome any feedback that can help us rephrase these questions in a more appropriate way.

  • Our job is to find things that are being advertised elsewhere and bring them to the attention of people who should know about them.

We work in the same way Deliveroo does - i.e. they don’t make the takeaways, they just promote takeaways made by other companies to hungry people who are looking for takeaways. So any questions about the takeaways are best asked to the actual takeaway company.

In the case of ERIC - if you have any specific questions about the opportunity, we would recommend asking the organisers of the opportunity. All the details and contact info can be found via the opportunity listing on the ERIC app! We would recommend emailing them or find them on social media and drop them a DM.

  • This is a high priority for us at ERIC. Our ethos to democratise access to the creative industries to everyone, and we are aware that the current version of the app doesn’t facilitate true accessibility to those with specific audio, visual and other physical needs.

We are working on an accessible version of the app for those individuals, but it is taking time and sadly we are limited by funding. We aim to have this version up and running by 2025 and will announce it’s availability on our LinkedIn or TikTok when we launch.

  • We do have a primary focus on finding opportunities for age demographics around 16-25, but we know there is a high demand for older age groups.

Sadly as we’re just a small team, we’re unable to expand right now but it’s definitely a high priority on the list of things we want to achieve.

We do often have opportunities that aren’t age-specific, so it’s always worth downloading the app and checking it.

If you want to be notified of when we are launching a version of the app for career changers/older people, follow us on LinkedIn or TikTok where we make all our big announcements.

  • If you're having any issues or come across any bugs, please email us at tech@meet-eric.com.

We hugely appreciate any feedback as it helps us to improve and make your experience better.
